Une distinction prestigieuse qui fera de lui le 182e membre de ce panth\u00e9on du rugby international.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>World Rugby a annonc\u00e9 mercredi l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de cinq nouvelles l\u00e9gendes au sein de son Hall of Fame. Abdelatif Benazzi figure parmi les heureux \u00e9lus, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de l\u2019Am\u00e9ricaine Jen Crawford, de l\u2019Anglaise Sue Day, de la N\u00e9o-Z\u00e9landaise Rochelle Martin et de l\u2019Italo-Argentin Diego Dominguez. Les Sud-Africain Joel Stransky et N\u00e9o-Z\u00e9landais Zinzan Brooke avaient, eux, d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 intronis\u00e9s en ao\u00fbt.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>N\u00e9 \u00e0 Oujda, Abdelatif Benazzi, aujourd\u2019hui \u00e2g\u00e9 de 58 ans, a marqu\u00e9 de son empreinte le rugby fran\u00e7ais. Il compte 78 s\u00e9lections avec le XV de France entre 1990 et 2001, principalement en deuxi\u00e8me et troisi\u00e8me lignes. Il a \u00e9galement pris part \u00e0 trois Coupes du monde, en 1991, 1995 et 1999, et port\u00e9 le brassard de capitaine des Bleus \u00e0 15 reprises.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Son nom reste notamment associ\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;un des moments les plus m\u00e9morables de l\u2019histoire du rugby fran\u00e7ais. En 1994, lors du succ\u00e8s retentissant de la France face \u00e0 la Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande \u00e0 Eden Park, Benazzi avait particip\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019action qui avait conduit \u00e0 l\u2019\u00ab essai du bout du monde \u00bb, inscrit par Jean-Luc Sadourny.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>En club, Benazzi a \u00e9galement construit une solide r\u00e9putation sous les couleurs du SU Agen, o\u00f9 il a \u00e9volu\u00e9 pendant douze saisons. Apr\u00e8s avoir raccroch\u00e9 les crampons, il est rest\u00e9 pleinement engag\u00e9 dans le d\u00e9veloppement du rugby. Il occupe aujourd\u2019hui le poste de vice-pr\u00e9sident de la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration fran\u00e7aise de rugby et si\u00e8ge \u00e9galement au Conseil de World Rugby.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>L\u2019intronisation officielle d\u2019Abdelatif Benazzi aura lieu le 17 novembre prochain \u00e0 Dublin, lors du d\u00eener du Conseil de World Rugby.
